When challenged with the task of creating a score that could ground the more ethereal elements of the script while allowing the words to play over top, composers Sarah Niblack and Steve Whipple utilized the unlikely combination of Viola and Double Bass with startling results.
Using the overtone series on each instrument to suggest the thin sound of wind sweeping across a lake, the two have created a soundscape that is both evocative and occasionally melodic. It is an ideal sonic environment to feed and support the text of the show.
